What is it?
The School Leavers Programme is a paid, full-time apprenticeship that gives you the chance to:
- Work with top food and farming businesses in your region
- Rotate through three different roles to discover what suits you best
- Gain a Level 3 qualification while you work
- Earn money from day one
- Build confidence, skills and a clear path into a future career
- Stay close to home with local placements only (no national travel)
- Avoid student debt
Where is it based?
We’re currently offering this opportunity in two key regions:
- Lincolnshire
- West Sussex
If you live nearby and want to start your career locally, this programme is designed for you.
Who is it for?
This programme could be right for you if you:
- Are aged 18 or over
- Have completed A levels or equivalent qualifications
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Are able to travel locally for work
Start date: October 2026
You don’t need any prior experience. Just motivation, a willingness to learn, and a desire to build a future for yourself.
What kind of roles will I do?
You’ll rotate through a range of placements with different employers. These could include roles in:
- Packhouse operations
- Engineering support
- Supply chain and logistics
- Quality and technical teams
- Farming and crop support
- Commercial or admin functions
Every role is designed to give you real responsibility and real experience.
What do I get?
By the end of the programme, you’ll have:
- A Level 3 qualification
- Up to two years of paid experience
- Strong industry connections
- A clear idea of your strengths and career path
- The confidence and skills to go even further
Many trainees go on to full-time roles with their placement companies or continue into higher training with MDS.
