2022: A year in review
The last 12 months have been a fantastic year for MDS. We launched new programmes, secured great funding and collaborated with our Membership to grow the business. Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
The MDS team, Membership and Trainees have helped the business go from strength to strength. We implemented two new development programmes for the first time in over 36 years and have received excellent feedback from Members and Trainees.
2022 Growth
We are excited to announce that we have ended the year with over 100 Trainees and have secured over 190 secondments over the last 12 months. The growth is in line with our vision to build and implement the most attractive, and industry-leading agri-food and horticultural supply chain training programme.
We are delighted that the increase in our Trainees was matched by the development of our Membership, with over 8 new businesses joining the programme. These businesses are spread across the supply chain and have already provided valuable and diverse secondment opportunities. These opportunities have added to our roster of fantastic Member companies and have taken Trainees across the UK and the globe to the Netherlands, Peru and Switzerland.
Our Trainees have proven themselves as skilled and dependable. This has resulted in our 2022 leavers securing over 30 permanent roles 80% of which were with Member businesses.
Our Team
Of course, we can’t forget about our amazing team who have worked tirelessly to make our new ventures a success. We’re so proud of our team and their efforts in helping us to expand the business, welcome new colleagues and help turn the dream into reality. It is through their hard work that we have also been able to attend over 36 careers events across the UK and educate even more entrants on the importance of the agri-food and horticultural supply chain. Our team were also able to put on an amazing Meet the Trainees event in June with over 180 attendees, our largest yet. We had some great takeaways from our guests and they gave us some great ideas to build on.
We’re thrilled to be able to say that we’ve worked really hard over 2022 and have made some significant strides in getting to where we are today. We’re looking forward to seeing where we can take MDS over the next year, and are reinvesting into the business to ensure that we only continue to get better.
