GRIMME UK joins the MDS programme

GRIMME UK joins the MDS programme

With the launch of our new development schemes, we have had more Member requests than ever as businesses are seeing the endless benefits of joining MDS. As our Membership grows, so do the diverse opportunities available, and this month, we were pleased to welcome our first machinery manufacturer, GRIMME UK to the programme. The sales and service subsidiary of the GRIMME brand is known for its potato, beet and vegetable technology. To celebrate the collaboration, HR Business Partner Emma Scholefield offered insights into what it’s like to work with GRIMME UK and what Trainees can expect from a secondment with the business.

What does GRIMME do, and how do you hope to utilise MDS?

Originally GRIMME UK was set up to provide support to an existing dealer network throughout the UK mainland but now works both in collaboration with a dealer network and in some areas directly with customers through GRIMME’s retail outlets in Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Yorkshire and Scotland. The development of these sites has allowed GRIMME to offer a market-leading service and parts back-up, something the company prides itself on. At its core, GRIMME UK aims to be an integral partner to every grower in the root crop and vegetable sector.

We decided to join the programme to gain access to motivated, driven individuals who can support us on multifaceted project work with elements of broad operational responsibility. We hope to support Trainees by providing them with an opportunity to work with an organisation that specialises in machinery manufacturing. This experience will allow fresh talent to experience a different side of the supply chain while offering us a fresh perspective.

What are the business’s core values, and how do you uphold these?

  • GRIMME is a family enterprise – today and in the future
  • Keep an eye on the big picture
  • Always Better – keeping our nose in front
  • Optimise the use of our cultural diversity
  • Trust and communication are the fundamentals of successful cooperation

Communication and trust are key to our continued success. Ensuring our employees are welcomed into the company and given all the right tools, support and continuous development, is fundamental to ensuring our overall
goal is achieved:

“We strive to walk side by side with all of the UK and Ireland’s root crop and vegetable growers as their sustainable supplier of choice, whilst we continuously invest in our staff and in improving our offering”.

GRIMME UK is dedicated to supporting its customer requirements through its network in the UK, offering innovative equipment and market-leading service and parts back-up. We believe in the personal development of our staff and every aftersales person involved with the brand. That’s why we offer an extensive training programme, and a few years ago, the GRIMME UK Academy was established in a purpose-built training facility at Swineshead.

What is it like to work at Grimme?

Working for GRIMME UK, you always feel like an integral part of the bigger picture, and our employees have a tremendous amount of pride in working for a market-leading business. There are always opportunities to learn and develop within the business. Being a family-run business of our size in this industry is becoming less common, and so it is fundamental to us to continuously support our employees both on a professional and personal level, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated for their part in our success.

To ensure the success of future talent, we look for key qualities such as teamwork, a passion to succeed and develop and a willingness to go the extra mile.
